The team at Trafalgar Wharf and The Drystack would like to congratulate British sailor Alex Thomson for finishing the 24,000-mile, three-month solo race behind Frenchmen Francois Gabart, who came first and Armel Le Cleac’h in second.
Thomson is only the third Briton to claim a top-three finish in the Vendee Globe after Ellen MacArthur was second in 2001 and Mike Golding finished third in 2004.
He also becomes the fastest Briton ever to sail around the world in a monohull boat, beating the previous record by nearly eight days.
